Project Description
Once completed, this well site will serve more than 1,500 families and anywhere from 2,600 to 7,500 people within 1.5km of the well. The people of the Ndava Commune Community currently have no access to safe, clean water. The difficult process of collecting water in this community consumes all their time and energy and often puts them in danger.
They do not have any other means to fetch water but from a contaminated stream. Girls as young as 7 years old carry a five-gallon bucket on their heads and walk about 4 miles to get to the stream to get the dirty water. The community girls miss school, and the women miss opportunities to work.
Fund the Remaining Need
Solar-powered, submersible pump system technology is preferred over the traditional single-hand pump. These larger, more sophisticated systems deliver much higher yields, serve double or triple the number of people, and are easier to maintain. Pump systems provide connected water storage tanks and taps where possible. Users also adopt these pumps more readily because they are more modern and efficient, and people feel more dignified using a tap.
Amazi Water has a team dedicated to maintenance and repairs and keeps wells in working order with a remarkable average of 95% uptime.
Amazi Water is about more than “just” installing wells — the ministry is committed to spiritual and physical transformation. We employ and train local team members whose expertise rapidly develops.
