Burundi, a beautiful country bordering Lake Tanganyika, faces a water crisis. While abundant water exists, a lack of infrastructure and climate challenges leave millions without access to clean drinking water. Burundi’s water woes stem from a combination of factors. Overpopulation strains existing resources, while polluted surface water and crocodile-infested lakes pose safety risks.
Amazi Water supplies solar-powered pumps that tap into safe groundwater reserves, providing communities with a reliable and sustainable water source. The results are nothing short of transformative. Since 2015, Amazi Water provided more than 1.6 million Burundians with safe, clean water as part of their border-to-border strategy. Community by community, children return to school, families grow vegetables, and people are healthier.
